The wheel bearing on your car allows friction – free movement and rotation of the ‘Hub assembly’, this then provides smooth tyre & wheel rotation.
A bad wheel bearing is unsafe and not drivable, it is also very dangerous, as it can cause the wheel to stop turning whilst driving. A damaged wheel bearing can also place a lot of stress on the Hub assembly, the CV Joint & the Automotive Transmission itself.
Some of the symptoms of bad wheel bearings can be:
Rumbling noise that increases with acceleration or whilst turning the vehicle.
A Grinding noise when the vehicle is moving, that can increase to a clunking noise.
